Starting September 3, 2008, East Texas Regional Airport passengers will fly on new regional jets. East Texas Regional Airport reps state that the old 34-seat turboprop planes will be replaced with 50-seat Embraer EMB– 145 regional jets and passengers will arrive at DFW sooner.
County Judge, Bill Stoudt, says these new jets will allow for passengers to arrive at DFW quicker than the smaller turbo planes.
A decision made by Dallas-based American Airlines will reduce the number of daily flights at East Texas Regional Airport from 3 to 2. However, airport officials state that the new regional jets allow for the same number of seats for passengers. Therefore, the transition will not affect passengers that fly from East Texas Regional Airport.
